Hi There
I am currently studying towards a diploma in events planning. My first module is to write an essay about myself. I should reflect on my experiences, education, interests, goals, plans, strengths and weaknesses and so on
This is all very well and good however it seems so strange to write an essay about myself.
I find the work "I" creeping up everywere and it feels like I'm just repeating myself.
I just need some guidence, would you considder this to be the correct way to write an essay?
I have brain stormed, written a structure and have now put, well, finger to key board. I have been printing it off a few times and gone through it again with red pen.
I just can't get over using "I" so often
What are your thoughts, I would really appreciate your assistance.

Good morning.
Keep in mind that in this type of essay it is almost impossible to stay away from "I" completely, but it is easy to become redundant with it. Here are a few tips: instead of "I" try using "one" periodically. For instance, "One would think that such an idea would be good, but..." You can also creatively structure some of your sentences; try not using "I" at all and see how they work out. I hope this helps!

I agree, just experiment not using "I" so much. I remember one essay where I used "I have" way too many times. I just experimented with a variety of ways to go around it and I cut out about half of those I haves.
