Hi, I am writing an assignement in which I must apply the functionalist paradigm to a couple of research questions. My research questions are, is there a pattern of institutionalized discrimination against women seeking ordination and acceptance into religious roles historically occupied by only men? and, if there is can the experiences these women have with discrimination be paradigmatic with respect to the political society? I must use the functionalist paradigm and develop a way in which to approach the research questions as a research project.

Greetings!

You haven't really asked a question ... but I'm guessing you want help with your approach to the research?

That sounds like a fairly specialized topic. With an internet search, I discovered that the functionalist paradigm approaches its subject matter from an objectivist point of view. It assumes rational human action and believes one can understand organizational behavior through hypothesis testing. So I would think that your research would involve developing hypotheses and testing them, through an objectivist viewpoint, that is, that certain acts are objectively right or wrong ... but that's just an extrapolation on my part.

I'm afraid that's about the best I can do with the information you gave, and my limited knowledge of the subject matter. Please feel free to ask questions and let me know if I can help you with editing!

Thanks,
